GRAVE(Y)ART GALLERY

Hailing from the robust metal scene of Germany, Macabre Demise has etched a notable presence in the extreme metal genre. Conceived as a solo endeavor by the prodigiously talented Andreas Rieger in 2007, the project has morphed into a conduit for unrelenting musical ferocity, blending elements of brutal brutal death metal into its core sound.

The release of their fourth full-length album, "GRAVE(Y)ART GALLERY," on November 18th, 2023, marks yet another milestone in their relentless pursuit of sonic heft. The album commences with the haunting "Melody of the Damned," a brief instrumental prelude that sets a somber stage. It smashes the listener into the eponymous track "Grave(y)art Gallery," which could be defined as pure, unbridled aggression. The song's relentless blast beats forge an auditory assault, complemented by Rieger's guttural vocal prowess and razor-sharp riffs. "The Nerve" escalates the tempo, intertwining a maelstrom of drumming virtuosity, courtesy of Flo Musil, with a guitar onslaught that is sure an album highlight. "Skinpeeler" continues this relentless auditory journey with the intro guitar riffs showing us a really cool blend of brutal death metal and thrash elements, creating an immersive, wall-crushing soundscape. It’s this kind of pushing the boundaries and making you guess the next riff or section that delivers the listener a high-octane testament to technical prowess, while "Tired Souls" melds mid-tempo gravitas with sporadic bursts of intensity, elevating the album's overall impact and is perfectly placed in the track listing order.

"Mind Eater" further display Rieger's mind blowing (excuse the pun) musical skills, with intricate guitar work that underscore the album's thematic intensity while oddly the closing track, "Dance of the Forgotten Corpses," is a very drastic departure from the album's overarching brutality with an electronic instrumental ending to an otherwise great album. The album's artwork, crafted by SIDJIMBE ART STUDIO, and its recording at the Deep Deep Pressure Studios under Lukas Haidinger's direction complement the musical experience.

"GRAVE(Y)ART GALLERY" by Macabre Demise is a triumphant exemplar of brutal death metal. Andreas Rieger, wielding all instruments and vocals, with the notable addition of Flo Musil on drums, delivers a real masterclass in technical proficiency and unrelenting intensity. This album is not just a collection of tracks; it's a meticulously crafted journey through the darkest realms of metal, making it an indispensable addition to any aficionado's collection.
