'In Silbernen Sprachen'

Diving straight into Urzirkel debut EP and the first thing that strikes you is that the band wastes little time establishing its atmosphere black metal style.

"Niebo | Ziemia" opens with cavernous, reverb drenched clean guitar, setting quite the brooding tone before the drums, distorted guitars and high pitched shrieks start to rip and tear through it. Held with that raw production that isn't too clean or harsh, it gets complimented with a melodic lead guitar which carries the track across its various changing sections, while blast beats and some interesting drum fills keep things moving. When the opening clean passage returns, it gives the song a proper breath before launching into its final surge.

I'm always a fan of songs flowing naturally into one another through it's previous tracks ending and "Himmlischer Funke" picks up the atmosphere nicely from the first track. Again another clean guitar intro, but this time its coloured by more pronounced note bends, before a distorted version crashes in over blasting drums and agonised black vox. The tremolo-picked riffs are strong throughout, especially when one of them returns during the quieter break in an almost haunted-string arrangement. A slower beat eventually takes over, making room for female spoken vocals that continue after the instruments suddenly drop away.

"Heiliger Kreis" starts with an ominous low drone, long open-string guitar strikes and a solid, deliberate drum beat. The gradual build works well before the song breaks into full speed. Around the 3 minute mark, another clean passage revisits earlier chord movements but extra guitar layers stop it from feeling like a repeat process. The track then fires into the EP's best section in my humble opinion -> a ferocious blast-driven passage built around a high, hypnotic tremolo riff and a repeated vocal hook. My favourite track so far.

Closer "Król Duch" comes in with a strong statement type of guitar lead. It feels angry and mournful at the same time, carrying a definite DSBM shade without completely sinking into it. It's a fitting ending to an EP that balances that raw aggression with melodic leads, clean passages and carefully placed changes of pace. Nicely done!

In Silbernen Sprachen feels dark and atmospheric, but never shapeless. The recurring musical ideas give the four tracks a connected, ritualistic quality, and the melodic guitar work gives Urzirkel an identity beyond straightforward atmospheric raw black metal. Bravo lads!
